    Pros

They have big company benefits. You also get a discount at several chains.

    Cons

The company uses negative motivation to motivate it's people. They want you to work 6 day weeks, 12 hour days.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change your management style and care for your employees.

I have been working at Sears

    Pros

At the business unit level the people are very collaborative and team oriented. It's not a high pressure environment, except during certain times of the year (e.g. planning season). The Home Services business is complex and challenging so you're engaged in the job every day.

    Cons

The greatest downside is mismanagement of the retail operations of the company to the point where one wonders if it can be salvaged. Is Sears irrelevant in the eyes of the consumer? It may very well be. And if it is it's only a matter of time before Sears goes the way of Woolworth's or Montgomery Ward.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be honest and candid with the employees about the strategy. For years there have been grand statements about building an integrated and leading retailer. Your actions have contradicted these assertions as stores fall into disrepair, merchandise sits on the shelves awaiting markdown, and customers continue to flock to competitors en masse.
