Hard work. Not much chance for advancement.

I have been working at Sears part-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Flexible hours, good work-life balance most of the time, worthwhile employee discount program, and perks with other companies due to employment at Sears.

Cons

Part-time at minimum wage. Little to no chance for advancement, salary increases, or moving into a full time position. Have to really hump it to get decent hours, and even then there's no guarantee. Hours slashed at the whim of upper management, and are always irregular. Can not count on a regular work schedule from week to week. Too much emphasis on pushing credit cards and shop your way rewards. Store frequently understaffed.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your employees a decent wage and offer realistic opportunities to advance within the corporation. Adequately staff the stores to insure a good customer experience. Quit the useless and arbitrary metrics and pay more attention to loyalty in both your employees and your customers.

Not even worth working at as a part time job! Only apply if you want to be a seasonal hire!

I have been working at Sears part-time

    Pros

-Some of the people are nice/funny.
-Free food sometimes (but it's not the healthiest!).
-20% discount off of apparel (includes markdowns!).
-If you're a MCA, you know what the sales/markdowns are before everyone else.
-I learned the basics of visual merchandising.

    Cons

-Won't pay their MCAs (even if you have a degree!) anything though the MCAs do all the work.
-a raise freeze is going on (though some how the leads can get raises & promotions??? ::side eye::), so this obviously means there will be disloyal employees and a very high turnover.
    -No good benefits.
    -Unprofessional management!
-No opportunities for advancement at all.
    -Unrealistic daily goals.
    -Unethical business & hiring practices.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give more leadership opportunities to your hardworking employees & stop playing favorites! People shouldn't have to suck up to get a promotion!
