I worked at Sears full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Regular paycheck. Schedule Flexibility. Decent hours. (Stores don't open super early.)

    Cons

Always running. Always dealing with customer complaints that wouldn't exist if the company ran properly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop chasing unproven strategies. Stop hounding every employee about credit apps. Stop hounding customers to apply for credit. It's chasing them away. FOCUS ON PROPER CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I worked at Sears full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Dedicated and under paid hourly assocites that have to deal with a chicken little style of management- " The sky is falling-everyone run over here and fix this corner before corporate sees how bad we are!". They do a whole lot of backside saving with no rewards.

    Cons

Clueless in house cookie cutter management that live in an alternate reality. They show an obvious and insulting disdain for the people busting their chops to make them look good in case the sky actually falls and a suit shows up to strut and point out the next piece of sky to fall.Oh, and you're over payroll. Oh yeah, and you're getting 2 more trucks from the DC a week now. Make it happen. (Here Store Mgr. wags their tail, spins in two circles, barks a couple of go-get em lines and waits for their scratch behind the ears).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Come down into the pits and work one week a year at the entry level. See first hand what the people have to do for so little. Actually, check out the pittance your full time associates make for their work load. And if you are human, and you actually listen, you might help make a difference if it's not too late. Unfortunately, the punch line to most big box jokes is " or like Sears Holdings! Hahaha. ..."
