I have been working at Sears full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Sears provides employees the opportunity to make their own decisions. The atmosphere in the stores is generally happy for employees.

    Cons

The stores needed to be renovated years ago. The atmosphere is not exciting at all for the customer. Prices are far too high and not competitive with the market. Service in very poor on customer products. Many levels in this large company make customer satisfaction and positive change hard to find.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sears keeps flipping presidents, CEOs, VPs, etc over and over with no real changes. The same practices don't work. Sears needs to look at what competitors are doing and position the Sears name along with brands like Diehard, Craftsman, and Kenmore to get some of the market back. Cant keep losing over and over again each year or Sears will be done soon.

I worked at Sears part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Lower store management (ASM's, Leads), most co-workers, ability to make commission, good products for the most part, nearly impossible to be fired

    Cons

Corporate mismanagement, lack of customers, the customers that are there are mostly elderly, VERY demanding metrics (especially credit and protection agreements), depressing and stressful job, if you don't meet your metrics you don't get promoted no matter how hard you work

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have no advice to give to this company. Mr. Lampert allowed the opportunity to manage this company correctly slip away years ago. It would take a retail genius to turn around this sinking ship. Unfortunate, knowing the history of the company.
