Great place to gain experience

I have been working at Sears full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Integrated retail created a great flow of communication throughout the entire company from corporate level to store level.

Cons

A little outdated with register systems. Nepotism was a huge drawback at my location which made it difficult to move up, also lack of trust in associates from management held a lot of employees back from full work potential as well as possible advancement with the company.

    Pros

Vacations, Perks, Casual Days, Summer Hours, Meeting a Handful of Young, Talented Professionals, Health Insurance, Store Discounts, Vast Opportunities to move into any areas

    Cons

    Poor Management and Office Bullying

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is a huge gap between management and what really goes on within the organization in Sears Headquarters. Favoritism towards the non-talented was very transparent. And a lot of Office Bullying occurs. Not a great environment. Hope this is being worked on and nobody deserves through what I went through.

I worked at Sears part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

They pay you. In the Electronics department, you do earn a small amount of commission. They also do keep you busy with stocking and cleaning, etc.

    Cons

-Dingy stores that are falling apart. The CEO, who also owns Advance Auto Parts decided to deinvest in store maintenance which means its a depressing place to work.
    -Poor career advancement
-Poor training. They have lots of training programs, but they generally aren't useful and make you feel like a disingenuous tool.
    -Poor pay and benefits overall
-Depressing culture. Nobody I worked with was happy to be there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Respect your employees and they might just respect your customers.
