I have been working at Seattle Public Schools full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

If you have a passion for education and like working with students this is a great place to work

Cons

The people in the organization are the biggest challenge. Compensation is not sufficient to attract the best and the brightest. Many come and go in administrative roles living things in a constant state of flux. It is difficult to build long term improvements under such conditions.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Avoid the ongoing turbulence. Stop the personnel churn

I have been working at Seattle Public Schools full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Many individual departments are full of capable and dedicated team members that make coming to work a joy.

    Cons

The central office can be a volatile place because of budget cuts and school staff that don't appreciate the work of the central office employees. Promotions are promised and then don't materialize because of budgetary reasons.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please keep your promises of promotion or don't offer them in the first place. Also find a way to get more money from the state!
