Pros

The benefit package is good and they give you a good amount of vacation days. There is no waiting period for benefits to start once hired.

Cons

The work load is too high and there are not enough employees for the work. Monthly metrics are unrealistic for the work load.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more people so the work can be distributed out in a reasonable level. Try to give employees time to investigate pending claims before giving them a load of new claims.

I have been working at Sedgwick Claims Management Services

    Pros

    - Telecommuting ability
    - Not completely micromanaged (depends on your role)
    - Decent pay and benefits
    - Great PTO
    - Paid Holidays

All in all it's a pretty good entry level job, or for someone just looking for a job and not necessarily a career.

    Cons

    - It's a big company with strict policies, so they aren't really flexible when it comes to personal circumstances. You are allowed a very LIMITED amount of personal sick days/family sick days. The PTO is great, but if you don't know to schedule ahead of time you are going to be in trouble.
    - Communication is pretty poor between workers and management when it comes to resolving issues.
    - Some of the management can be pretty rude/unhelpful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put people in management who have actually worked in the role you are having them manage so they actually understand what kind of issues their employees are facing.

    Fantastic Experience Thus Far

I have been working at Sedgwick Claims Management Services

    Pros

    * Technically, my leadership and I mesh extremely well, have the same hot-button issues, the same concerns when it comes to writing code.
    * Loads of freedom to innovate and solve problems creatively, but also well-supported by large amount of constantly-improving library code.
    * All tools aside from the obvious tech-specific ones (Toad, Visual Studio, etc) are developed in-house. This is a "pro" because it allows us to deal with the results of our own work, keeps us always looking to improve the experience.
    * Work area is spacious and well-ventilated, with a good outside view of the nicely maintained grounds, complete with shady trees and garden.
    * Location is a mere two blocks from LOADS of shopping, lots of lunchtime food destinations, great for entertaining out-of-towners.

    Cons

    * CR (HR support) is conspicuously absent in Atlanta. All onboarding was handled through remote offices.
    * Getting set up with a good development machine has proven to be a challenge, but not one we can't overcome.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus in on what is needed to enable your people to do the best job they can do for you. The more empowered the employees are to do the job assigned, the more successful they will be, and therefore the more successful YOU will be.
