I worked at Sedgwick Claims Management Services full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Good pay and excellent benefits
Obvious advantages to working for the industry leader
Challenging work and a supportive culture
Best employer I've ever worked for and the company is recognized as an employer of choice

Cons

Lots of time off, but critical staff rarely had the opportunity to use it
Management didn't prioritize open communication with employees
Company never said no to customers and never asked employees if something could be realistically accomplished - doing the impossible was routine business
Little room for advancement; if you wanted a promotion, you were almost forced to leave the company

Keep recognizing employees who go above and beyond. Give them rewards and opportunities to advance in their careers

    I have been working at Sedgwick Claims Management Services full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    The company as a whole, is highly respected in the industry. The top management of the company (on the corporate level) seems to be forward thinking and pro-active in seeking feedback from subordinate levels of the company.

    Cons

    There is very little career advancement. Mid-level management is not very supportive of anyone seeking to advance their career. No cross training, or aiding in career advancement. There are constant internal audits, for nit-picky clerical issues, that make it very difficult for one to take a holistic approach to overall work product. Sedgwick epitomizes the very definition of "micro-managers"

    Continue your efforts to strive for perfection, by hiring the very best people - but then get out of the way, and let them do their job.
