Pros

Good facilities, smart buildings and flexi time
a good focus on Training and development (you need to drive this but that's how it should be!)
Generally a people focused organisation

Cons

The company strategy for the next 2-5 years is not clear.
The high level (exec) management are not engaged. In the current climate (and probably well before now) direction needed to be set and hard decisions made to guarantee the future. Enthusiasm, engagement and commitment seem to be lacking at the highest levels.

Advice to Management

To the execs, stop the chatting, make some decisions and drive them through TO COMPLETION.

    Pros

A very friendly place to work, with most people being very willing to help you out.
So long as you get the job done properly, you shouldn't have your boss breathing down your neck.
    Good opportunities for training.

    Cons

Far too many levels of management.
A strange disparity in procedures for courses - some require jumping through hoops to get on, some to get off!

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the unnecessary levels of middle management and stop wasting money on large-scale training courses that are widely unpopular, then talk about wanting to cut costs.

    I worked at Selex Galileo

    Pros

Chartership and professional accreditation is encouraged and supported.
    Smart and knowledgeable workforce.
    Innovation is encouraged.
Twice yearly performance reviews - not just a tick box exercise.

    Cons

Far too many managers at the expense of having sufficient numbers of engineers.
Promotions often based on who you know rather than merit.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of some of your fellow managers and put into practice the advice given to the general employee populace.
