I worked at Sempra Energy

Pros

the pay is good, the bonus structure makes it great.
benefits are good, too.

Cons

Executive management gives information to employees on a need-to-know basis. Most of the time it seems that employees do not need to know much.
Sempra Energy doesn't get too attached to the assets it possesses, some of those assets are the people working for the company.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Great Company to work for. Great job stability, great people, but slow growth and slightly lower than industry avg pay.

    Pros

The work life balance is the most rewarding. People are great and work is rewarding.

    Cons

compensation and risk/reward are on the low side.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

be a little more competitive with pay and you will keep your high performing/valued employees.

    Pros

Wall Street really seems to like the management team. The company operates in a stable industry with longer term asset plays, so employment is more stable here than most other industries.

    Cons

The company often overlooks internal talent and does not develop its own people. The company is filling middle manager roles with external candidates while internal candidates are overlooked. Getting promoted here is more about who you know than the skills and education you bring to the table.

There seems to be a high level of distrust and misunderstanding between the utilities and the parent co.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You are killing the motivation, aspiration, and morale of your younger employees.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
