I have been working at Sentry Insurance full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Extensive training second to none. They really invest in their new hires as opposed to just throwing new sales reps to the wolves.

Cons

Can be somewhat "corporate". Does everything by strict procedural guidelines. No wiggle room.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at each rep and each territory as unique. Try to tailor goals, expectations, and compensation based on those unique characteristics.

    Pros

    Sentry was a great company to start with, as it was my first "real" job. Pays well, large company.

    Cons

    They don't care about you. Overtime is almost mandatory.

    excellent training; extremely flexible schedule; work independently with little management oversight; solid, stable company.

    Cons

    Somewhat bureaucratic. Very rigid minimum sales expectations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Focus more on incentivizing sales and what works in the field as opposed to programs designed by corporate non-sales employees.
