I worked at Service Corporation International full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

My particular position at SCI was unique as a support services associate. I enjoyed taking care of the funeral home, supporting staff in many different ways, and doing lots of various supportive tasks and behind the scenes work. Pay is respectable, benefits are okay, and schedules are generally flexible. A very respectable choice if you have an interest in the funeral industry. SCI does everything it can to help families during the worst part of their lives.

Cons

Health benefits are somewhat expensive; the amount you pay depends upon the plan you choose and your annual salary. The plans themselves are satisfactory but nothing to brag about.

Turnover for the sales folks is somewhat high. Family Service can be a stressful position, and there is no guarantee that you are going to make sales. While everyone needs to purchase a funeral plan, not everyone will choose an expensive SCI plan and many people are going cremation these days. Being a Family Service person is a good job if you are ultra passionate about your job.

Management can sometimes be rude, managers will sometimes go on rampages when they are having a bad day.

    Good co workers, flexible schedule,

    Cons

    Terrible top management, they have no idea what they are doing. They treat their people really bad and only care about sales and making a profit. Ey claim to be all about serving and helping families, but all they talk about is sales and making a buck.

    Get rid of the good ol boys and hire some talented people. Treat your employees better.

    I worked at Service Corporation International full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    Lies are quite attractive, but don't be fooled. Over 10 people have left this year because they cheat and expect salespeople to correct their (deliberate) mistakes, their lead generation is off, and even top producers are subject to low pay periods. Lots of chargebacks, too.

    Cons

    No effort to support sales force with relevant leads as promised, lies about what people are making to suck in gullible and desperate 'commission only' suckers. Ultimate scum . . . get away while you can.
