BAD BAD MANAGEMENT. BAD PAY STRUCTURE. They tell you you can earn $80K your first year. On what planet do they operate?

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Wake up! Pay your people better and maybe they will last and you won't have a 6% retention rate

    If you are being recruited by this company, hang up the phone and run as fast as you can in the opposite direction.

    Pros

    The only positive thing about this job was my weekly paycheck.

    Cons

    Extremely expensive benefits, most employees can't afford the premiums.
    Incompetent and unethical middle management, these people cannot be trusted.
    The new affordable care law is being used to screw employees even more.
    This is the ABSOLUTE worst employer I worked for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Executive management hire professional leaders that other can respect and follow.

    I have been working at Service Corporation International full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    The business outlook is good with so many baby boomers in the pipeline and their backlog of preneed insurance assuming the contracts are fulfilled by SCI upon maturity.

    Cons

    Work expectations are unrealistic at times.

    Benefits are terrible.

    The merit increases are only 2-3%.

    Not enough quality directors/managers - tenure does not equal talent nor does it improve EQ and being a golf/fishing buddy shouldn't be a qualifier.

    Not enough communication and guidance from supervisors - they are far too busy to actually supervise.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Management is overly concerned with increasing shareholder wealth and not enough with the well being of the employees.

    Employees have been exiting this company in droves since I started working at SCI. This should be a wake up call to management about the moral among employees.
