Working at ServiceSource is nice for recent college grads, but not if you seek more.

I have been working at ServiceSource

    Pros

The benefits package is grade A. The incentives and spiffs are worth working hard for. The laid back feel of the entire office. Office is made up of youthful, forward thinking people who work hard and play harder!

    Cons

I don't feel as though the company completely embraces diversity. The compensation is not equivalent to the amount of work required to do. Metrics that determine when and how fast one moves up within the company are not based solely on performance, but more on social status. No preference for seniority. Very big degree of status based on position held. Proper acknowledgement for bottom tier employees (ssc's) is non existent, yet they do most of the work. Reps are praised while ssc's are overlooked. If you work here, strive to be a rep, even though they still don't get proper compensation for amount of work they do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure ssc's are shown same praise as reps; without ssc's, reps would be lost. Actually perform the semi annual performance reviews and offer raises based on actual measurable metrics. Find ways to increase comraderie within the entire office. Embrace the different tastes and cultures of the diverse employees.

Potentially great business, hampered by inexperienced management and excessively aggressive culture

    I worked at ServiceSource

    Pros

-potentially lucrative business model, fast growth and equity upside
-incredibly hard working teams, dedicated to customer sat

    Cons

-culture: run like a BPO by group of former IB and former consultants
-general disregard for quality of life balance from weekends, PTO, holidays, etc
-same group of execs make ALL decisions of any import, not very efficient or productive
-general anxiety by mid-level management to take leadership positions; management totally intolerant of mistakes, no space to learn/develop, subject to being embarrassed in front of peers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Loosen the reins, allow mid level management to develop. Exec staff should focus on strategy and not micro manage day to day operations in an environment in which teams are afraid to make mistakes, develop and grow professionally.
