Former Employee - Security Agents in Port-of-Spain (Trinidad and Tobago)

I worked at Servisair full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Connection to other areas of work
Meeting people from around the world
only airport in Trinidad and Tobago
    interesting fields to work in

    Cons

    Benefits none
Pay sucks/ to me and a lot of employees it just barely keeping the hunger at bay (1200 a fortnight just ain't cutting it)
sick leave although allowed only about 2 days welcome
vacation after one year service 5 days allowed
insufficient pay for the amount of work and the hours involved
    no understanding about family responsibilities
cant be late although legitimate claim such as car broken down etc and numerous more
monopoly on employment because its the only airport in the country
No area for employees to put/ lodge personal property
No area for employees between shifts to rest, eat or sleep due to the expected hours of work ie: 300am to 1200
no employees / staff toilet facilities to utilize / have to use public washroom
At retirement some employees were given Televisions and sent home

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management need to understand that their employees/ people who truly like and enjoy the work , do need some standard issues to be dealt with ,
And they also need to stop telling us that we cant join a union as a prerequisite for employment
they need to deal with the fact that they are dealing with people not machines and when you have happy employees then you would have a happy work environment

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
