I have been working at Seyfarth Shaw full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

The building is probably the only nice attribute. Of course this cost is passed on to clients.

Cons

Everyone is terrible. Egotistical yet inexperienced attorneys working in a very negative and hostile racist, sexist and homophobic environment. No one cares about teamwork or clients. The bottom line and making partner is all that matters. If you are not that smart but enjoy stabbing people in the back, this is the perfect environment for you. Just imagine how they bill, treat and talk about their "ignorant" clients.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Shut the doors and start over. Or look at any other decent firm and take copious notes. Start the house-cleaning with the inexperienced, vapid and dwindling litigation department.

I worked at Seyfarth Shaw full-time

    Pros

Proximity to trains; good location, though that is changing soon

    Cons

Hostile environment, dominated by cliques, with virtually no teamwork, or a common goal; utterly incompetent department management who appear clueless as the department dissolves before them; astonishing turnover rate

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Rethink your billing and collections processes now. Not next month, not next year - NOW. I have never seen such an incompetently run department, particularly in a BigLaw firm.

    Pros

Flexibility to work from home and remotely.

    Cons

Subjective advancement criteria rather than lockstep

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change advancement criteria and consider more of a lockstep advancement
