Former Employee - Incentive Driver in Phoenix, AZ

I worked at Shamrock Foods full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Employees are respected as highly qualified and knowledgeable professionals. If willing to work hard and provide good service, an employee will be treated with levels of respect and admiration that is rare in the industry. Access to even high levels of management and every level of management will treat employees as a valuable person and will listen to their input.

Cons

One of the hardest balancing acts of hard physical labor and customer service.
Will not find a harder job in how it affects an employee personally, physically and demands of physical performance.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Expand study of throughput for each employee. Instead of daily cph and weekly gather info on cph per customer, location type and delivery method. Use statistical analysis to determine median averages for a stops cph. Use this data to improve weaknesses and use strengths as a learning resource.

Former Employee - Warehouse Dock Captain in Phoenix, AZ

I worked at Shamrock Foods full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Pay depends on how fast and accurate your work is done. Shamrock provides great benefits including 401K plan. Many opportunities to advance to management or to even become a delivery driver.

    Cons

Very large warehouse so getting product to correct door or area can take some time. There are three different zones pickers must work in. Dry, Cooler, and Freezer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Must have improved transition from day crew to night crew.

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Denver, CO

I worked at Shamrock Foods full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You won't see a benefit package this big at many other companies. This is one of the main reasons so many employees stay long term with the company.

    Cons

Too much red tape and corporate politics to truly move the company forward. They will never be able to take from their competition as long as this is the case.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would highly suggest taking away all of the "pots to fill" with so many allowances added on to the cost of the products. If you do your research you will find that the highest volume movers are those that allow the sales force to remain competitively priced in their respective markets. Until you do this you will never grow your market share.
