Current Employee – been working at Shands HealthCare
Pros – Flexible scheduling, friendly peers. Floor/staff organziation works well. Free and easy parking at AGH. Management is responsive to schedule requests, time off and changes in number of hours worked, FT to PT etc. Floor managers caring but limited in power. Benefits are pretty good.
Cons – Patient load is too heavy. Upper management is disorganized and unsupportive of floor nurses. Faciliy is outdated.
Advice to Senior Management – Please start listening to and repsonding to the needs of floor nurses- it is OUR licences on the line if a problem occurs, so it is unethical of senior management to burden floor nurses unduly with a heavy patient load. This has a direct impact on staff morale and long term commitment to the facility.
