I worked at Sharp HealthCare full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Committed and Value to Patient Care.

Cons

They value patients but not employees. There is little or no chance for advancement, no matter how hard you work, you will feel "stuck" in a dead beat job, under paid & worse of all disrespected. High level of backstabbing with management, continuous need to have a bad attitude & treat employees like they are slaves & enemies. Incompetent supervisors (my recent one spent more time surfing the internet & gossiping rather then her work). Hardly any employee
recognition, not even a thank you for all your hard work through email. You are often put down. If
you stick up for yourself, they will find a way to terminate you (Retaliation).

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give the Sharp Experience to the employees, not just the patients. Without the employees, you would not have your job. Appreciate & recognize the employees hard work, offer advancement opportunities, better pay, do not treat employees like slaves & most importantly, refrain from a disrespectful tone of voice & negativity towards the employees & don't let your "personal feelings" cloud your judgement in the work area. Treat your employees with dignity & respect. That is part of the true meaning of Sharp & the employees deserve it more then you think.

    good benefits, multi site employer

    Cons

    documentation has taken over industry as whole and as the largest system in San Diego it is now lacking patient interests as priority

    allow employees ability to assist patients better by cutting out so much buracracy.

    Pros

    Sharp has an excellent vision of what healthcare should be. The executive team is inspiriring and innovative, always encouraging and challenging staff to take it to the next level.

    Cons

    Lower mangement does not always practice what is preached. Staff are often not held accountable for not acheiving the goals set forth by the organization.
