I have been working at Sherwin-Williams

Pros

Most employees are good people who want to put a good product out to the customers. The facility hits many of their goals and can tackle a project with the best of them. The union can sometimes cause too much of an uproar about non-issues. Overall, they do seem to have good, honest, hard working employees in spite of themselves.

Good pay for the work that is performed.

Retirement benefits are excellent.

Healthcare benefits are average.

Cons

Corporate and regional managers can implement relatively unreasonable initiatives with little/no site feedback or input.

Many things are controlled from Cleveland, not allowing creative freedom for running the operation.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Implement standards and guidelines, but keep the mandating of certain activities and procedures to a minimum. Allow the good workers you hire to run your facilities to use their brains and make things happen for themselves. If everything is mandated, all you have are drones spouting off mandates from Cleveland.

    Pros

As long as you have a good team, life and work balance is good

    Cons

Education, nor preparation means anything to the company.
Who you know will take you to the next level
Master Degrees don't mean anything to this company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Meet and learn what are the long term plans of your employees. Some managers are content with peanuts, while others need more challenges and growth.

    I worked at Sherwin-Williams

    Pros

    -Good training, and regular training
    -Good Benefits plan. (Very affordable)

    Cons

-Work environment leaves something to be desired.
-Upper managment was very critical of employees.
    -No loyalty to their employees.
-Asked more of their employees than what the pay was worth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more appreciative of the hard work your employees do for you. They are working hard, and you don't help them much at all. The pricing is out of hand, and you are trying to make your guys compete on and unfair playing field. Stop asking everyone to do more with less. That was the motto when I was there. That is they way it was always done, not the way it should be done.
