I have been working at Sherwin-Williams full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A relaxed atmosphere can be found at all levels. Business model is solid and they continue to grow despite economic slowdowns. Most of the employees in any plant, store or lab are very friendly.

    Cons

Effecting change can be difficult even when it makes economic sense. Red tape seems to hinder improvements along with strained inter-functional relationships.

    Advice to Management

Streamline the capital expenditures process. Consider more opportunities for telecommuting.

I have been working at Sherwin-Williams full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Retirement plan is top tier, Co-workers are great, many opportunities for advancement, many different work environments, provides pretty good health insurance... not great.

    Cons

Upper Management will slash hours and downsize departments regardless of how much stress they put on the short staffed employees or how ridiculous and unattainable the goals may be.

    Advice to Management

Stop having downsizing and cutting hours as your go to option for saving money. This poor decision making comes from generations of upper management learning these lessons from their predecessors. With a growing turnover rate this will eventually come back to haunt the company.
