Former Employee - Anonymous Employee  in  Dallas, TX
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Dallas, TX

Pros

good benefits
There is lots of room for advancement as they are growing very quickly
The bonuses are pretty good if your store does well

Cons

You're selling paint and working with contractors. The people around you are not the most driven. If you're in the right store is like working with a bunch of friends. If you;re in the wrong store it can be a nightmare

Advice to ManagementAdvice

This is a great place to work if you're ok with getting dirty and working hard ( manual labor) but try to get better non management employees.

Current Employee - Sales A  in  Hanover Park, IL
Current Employee - Sales A in Hanover Park, IL

    Pros

    -Great manager
-Delegation of tasks are very communal; there isn't a huge overbearing pecking order and the manager would often do the very same things we did
    -Very inclusive place to work
    -Managment assigned responsibility
-There is a set task and goal in mind
-Learn a lot about the working class, it's a good first job

    Cons

-Same cons as any retail job really
-Sometimes customers or contractors wont take you seriously
-odds of getting paint spilled on you at some point is pretty high
-sometimes you'll get sore from the lifting

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your hub system is really stupid, no one has any idea what's going on and it's completley slowed everything down, not to mention how much $$$ it must be costing you.

Former Employee - Assistant Store Manager  in  Dallas, TX
Former Employee - Assistant Store Manager in Dallas, TX

    Pros

    Strong Brand
    Quality Product
    Great Locations
Freedom in how store is run by store management.

    Cons

    Limited Staffing
    Overworked and Underpaid
Store and Assistant Managers are college educated...expected to bow down to and be treated poorly but a customer base that is, in many cases, made up of uneducated trades professionals. This can be very discouraging.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Encourage your strong performers and up-and-comers to spur on creativity because they are the individuals that are the future leaders of the company. If you treat them as just an employee they will eventually get burned out and leave the company...like I did.
