Current Employee – been working at Shoe Carnival full-time for more than 3 years

Pros – A lot of stores have a really fun environment and great management staff. You get to play games with customers. You get to negotiate with customers too. The job is actually pretty easy - just make sure you do it right. Promotes from within.

Cons – When you get the stores with managers who are not very good, the overall experience can turn into a nightmare. Some managers make promises they can't keep. Promotion from within is quite slow - I'm talking years to get a promotion for which someone is "in-training." It's retail so: mean customers and working holidays.

Advice to Senior Management – Speed up training and promotions. This company has lost quite a few great people for this reason.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
