Stable Company to work for..ok benefits

I have been working at Siemens Energy & Automation full-time for more than 7 years

ProsSiemens is a stable company to work for due to its shear size. For the most part you can rest at ease that your job is stable in the changing economic environment.

ConsVery German, controlling, and rigid. Little to no advancement opportuntiy or direction for advancement. Advancement is based on politics rather than skills based. As a result operational preformance continues to decline in the U.S. Employees are working 110%, Co. refuses to hire needed people, invest in new tech., and is not open to suggestions therefore even good management will not take risks at the risk of politcal demise. In Finance they will only promote new 4yr level college grads quickly and refuse to acknowledge anyone with experience that was not hired through the FMT program, African Americans and working mothers are not qualified for the FMT program. Siemens will not acknowledge CPA as an advanced certification for promotion in the ATL officies. Female managers are often widely disrespected and are convenient casualties in politics, in contrast men in the same situations are promoted to new "roles" that are "better suited for them." No pension program, benefits are just fair in comparison.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed more American based management here in the U.S. rather than foreigners that have no interest in advancing careers of U.S. citizens. Need actual experienced finance management from outside of the company to improve quality of finance data. The Germans value ultimate control in directly managing within the U.S. rather than allowing qualfied U.S. management to grow the business units.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
