Former Employee - Procurement Intern in Pine Brook, NJ
Former Employee - Procurement Intern in Pine Brook, NJ

I worked at Siemens as an intern (less than a year)

Pros

Had a knowledgable manager that was able to teach me basic business and procurement skills. Big name company that will help propel you into other jobs in the industry.

Cons

Nepotism, Nepotism, Nepotism. It was a miracle that I landed this internship considering I had no internal connections. Procurement organization pays interns low wages, while finance interns receive much better pay. I was a prime candidate for the Supply Chain Leadership Development program, but was not selected (most likely due to nepotism).

Advice to ManagementAdvice

If interns are high performing, give them first consideration for entry level positions.

I have been working at Siemens full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, stable company in a tough ecomony, seem to care about their employees, plenty of training.

As always with a large company, the processes can be cumbersome.

Current Employee - Technical Service Specialist in Boston, MA

I have been working at Siemens full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Thankful to have a steady, albeit small, income with some benefits.

    Cons

Management is patting themselves on the back about the big profits this year which meant big bonuses for the upper echelon, but more austerity measures for everyone else. If you're not German, male, and white, you won't get very far despite the management rhetoric about diversity. People are working hard long hours and pay is not increasing with the rising cost of living.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

One size does not fit all. Stop the merging already! Quality is being sacrificed for short-sighted profits. Our customers are moving to our competitors because of the low quality of our products, high prices, and our poorly trained, spread thin services.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
