I have been working at Sierra Systems

Pros

Very friendly corporate hierarchy and corporate culture, You will be able to work on very different projects using a large scope technologies. This is the place where you can grow into a managerial position and be happy with it, a lot of traveling is usually required - but this can be worked around individual preferences. I found myself in a position where a very strong and competent technical mentorship was in place.

Cons

If you don't like to be a road-warrior - not a place for you...

I worked at Sierra Systems full-time

    Pros

Used to be some exceptional talent... most have left.

    Cons

    1. Owner: Golden Gate Capital.
    2. Cuts in benefits.
    3. Little chance for improvement in terms of salary/training.
    4. Short term assignments, no challenge.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start being managers of consultants, not salespersons.

I worked at Sierra Systems (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    - you meet some nice people, but your relationships with them will devolve into "misery loves company." Then the ones with potential leave, and you alone are more miserable. If all you want to do is tread water, you might be willing to live with it.

    Cons

    - profit-driven in a negative way
    - culture rewards opportunism over integrity
    - bottom lines prevail over employee satisfaction, customer service and value, and relationships with business partners
    - leadership is non existent at upper levels. Everyone is out for themselves
    - anyone competent with integrity soon leaves. Only the mediocre stay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire real leaders with integrity. Too many senior level staff lack this, and none of them are fooling anyone. Not employees and not clients.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
