It's ok

Pros

The place isn't bad if you want to gain skills and experience

Cons

Very clique-ish. Management is pretty clueless and they don't like change.

    I have been working at Sigma-Aldrich full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    There are many wonderful dedicated employees.
    If you get under the right mgmt, you are treated humanely and have some flexibility.
    $72.00 bonus after taxes yearly (wow).

    Cons

    Layoffs happen very few years.
    Little to no growth or advancement potential unless you move depts.
    A lot of turnover and offshoring lately.
    Mediocre pay for unrealistic performance expectations.
    Benefits pkg. recently downsized again.

    Need a major influx of leadership to maximize and retain your human capital.

    Great company for new graduates to start off in "the real world", but lack of personnel growth opportunities.

    Sigma is a non-competitive, laid back environment. Flexible work hours.

    Cons

    Lack of career development opportunities. Company claims to be 'one company' yet is very disconnected and is difficult to work with other business units.
