I worked at Signtronix

Pros

You get paid on the spot when you make a sale. Can literally sell wherever you want. No one is really after you for call sheets, prospects you've called on. Youre really an independent contractor

Cons

no protected territories. You may have 7 or 8 other reps working your same metro area. It upsets the prospect when they say hey I just saw a guy from your company last week. Its a pur take away sale schem.

Advice to Management

Divise soeme protected territories. It hurts the company and the Rep when more than one person is calling in the same area.

    Pros

Independence, good commissions, top of the line products, very knowledgeable hands-off management, large target market

    Cons

Every business already has a sign however if you are a good one call close professional you should do very well. It is constant cold calling with zero residual commissions. There could be repeat sales in 6 years or so.

    Advice to Management

Perhaps a little more training on what to sell exactly and how to learn the codes and zoning issues for each area would benefit the new dealer. Also, training days with managers should at least be split commission days or maybe a flat dollar rate. New people in the business have zero income coming in and need that extra bit of cash for gas and expenses. Frequent follow up training on the basics and the nuances of the presentation would be helpful as well. Weekly webinars or conference calls would help a new dealer immensely. Pricing seems to be a little out touch with the small business owner's ability to pay and the digital products are definitely a little off. It might be a good idea to rethink the price structure. Also, in this area, the manager had already worked the entire city and there are two other reps close by. There was also a traveling rep that went through the smaller towns in this immediate area. It is a large city but there were still issues about seeing the same people. Some sort of territory protection would be helpful even if it is just loose two or three miles around the dealer's residence.
