I have been working at Sikorsky

Pros

Plenty of opportunities to move around and broaden your experience, great people, and UTC's Employee Scholar Program is excellent.

Cons

Pay is not great, there seems to be a lack of SMEs in many areas, work-life balance not good in many areas, there always seems to be some fire-drill going on.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on processes and training.

    I worked at Sikorsky

    Pros

Employee Scholar Program was one of the most flexible and thorough educational benefits in the workplace. High quality finished products. Name is highly recognized in all areas of marketplace. ACE program and Green initiatives have potential benefits to bottom line and environment.
After the acquisition of Schweizer Aircraft Corp, UTC- Sikorsky invested heavily in updating and improving facilities.

    Cons

The first 8 years of my career were mostly positive with improvements to working conditions and facilities. Sikorsky transferred managers to Elmira locations with mixed results at best. Many transfers had problems in CT and were exiled to subsidary to help operations yet had the same issues as headquarters. Subsidary was definitely considered inferior in both personnel and processes and CT had no problem demonstrating that. Last couple years were terrible with little management communications and constant lay offs. Future is shaky based on the leadership in place.
Strongly recommend not working at Sikorsky if a full and rewarding career is important. Current situation is set up for recent college grads to work a few years then leave the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate with honesty and actually consider employee feedback. Why ask employees to complete a survey about working conditions, morale and suggestions but not react to it?
