I have been working at Sikorsky

Pros

Nobody really watches what you do, so like many people there, you can walk around and do nothing all day.

Cons

Depressing work environment, people are stuffed into to cubes, closets, basements. People can stay there as low performers for years and instead of firing them, they just move them to another department for someone else to deal with. Everything is process, policy, lean manufacturing and ACE but nobody really follows it! UTC doesn't value any experience that one had outside of UTC. New people are brought in at market value and existing employees are very underpaid. The company doesn't invest in people or systems, only engineers. Boeing and other competitors are light years ahead in systems and human capital. People come to Sikorsky because nobody else wants them.

I have been working at Sikorsky full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits if you become a permanent employee.

    Cons

Contractors are treated like crap. Pay sucks for parts clerk, tool attendant, and production control employees. No union.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you really value your workers show them in there pay checks. Treat all employees equal contractors contribute to the companies success as well. Less catered events and stupid Christmas parties and more pay. Not like the yearly fifty cent raises you currently give your hard working employees.
