I worked at Silver Eagle full-time for more than a year

Pros

*The opportunity to make good money is certainly there
*Work with good people, for the most part
*Lots of interaction with customers, Anheuser-Busch is universally known
*If you stay with the company and "Buy in", you can definitely make it a career

Cons

*Getting up at 5 a.m. to handle beer/talk about beer/look at beer displays gets old
*As a Sales Specialist I you are going to put a lot of miles on your car, though you do get a vehicle allowance
*Silver Eagle is one of those places where Management-admin types have an awesome setup-$, weekends off, no real labor-and non-management works weekends, lot less $, lots of labor-That's how it is at most places but when someone disconnected from the day-to-day job is telling you how to do it, it can be frustrating
*You have a ton of work to do in different locations, but your Nextel/cellphone is going off all day with calls telling you to "get displays" or "go back to such-and-such store they need this"
*It's very stressful having to meet sales numbers with beer because there are so many X-Factors-weather, people's moods, outcome of sports games, it's not like Coca-Cola that is going to sell no matter what no questions.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

These guys from Corporate that HAVE to see initiatives being executed, when you walk a store why don't you talk to the manager? Maybe that SS1 has been busting his hump trying to execute but the manager keeps saying no. Quit assuming all SS1s are lazy POS just because Wal-Mart etc. doesn't want to bow down and give 50% of their floor space to beer.

    I worked at Silver Eagle

    Pros

To get experience if you dont have any. If you are right out of high school and didnt go to college and need a job that will get your foot in the door this is one. You can learn sales and how to work hard. The work is very hard but is needed for some young people who have not grown up yet.

    Cons

Pay is much less then competition. Once you work there for a while and begin to understand what is going on you will not agree with it. The hours are very long and the pay is not so good.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To take care of thier employees more and pay what the competition pays and you will hold on to more employees.

I worked at Silver Eagle full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Silver Eagle Distributors is an industry leader. Relatively recession proof. There are jobs out in the market and desk jobs whichever you prefer.

    Cons

The hours can be long (over 12 hours a day, some nights and weekends). The work can be both labor intensive and mentally taxing. No real training to speak of, figure it out yourself

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    pay better, hire more people
