A fun, relaxed place to work that needs just a bit of improvement in the way it manages its design staff.

I worked at Silverpoint

Pros

Silverpoint is well-known in its field, and well-respected by its clients. Several high-profile clients, as well as a few known former designers kept morale high and the company's reputation high. Designers are given creative freedom in their work and design choices are usually defended well by project managers when being presented to clients.

Cons

After the art director left, he was not replaced, so designers had limited resources for collaborating and getting feedback from someone more experienced. Some project managers made up for the lack of an art director, but others were simply not good at presenting and defending the designers' decisions to clients, leading to some unnecessary confusion and frustration between the designer and client.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire an art director. Continue to hire qualified designers and trust their judgement. If you don't trust a designer's judgement, help them or let them go. Understand the importance of helping a client see your designers' vision, and don't always agree with a client's instincts about a design -- sometimes they need your help to understand why the design you're presenting to them works for them.

Smart, friendly people producing award-winner and relevant products, a bit tight with the money though.
