I worked at Simmons Bedding full-time for less than a year

Pros

Opportunity to move up and change locations

Cons

Too many long days and too much turnover.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Concentrate on hiring the best people and not just getting anyone who applies. Quality employees would make this place so much better.

The first 4 years were great with a lot of opportunity and class, the last five years were completely the opposite.

I have been working at Simmons Bedding

    Pros

    Great product Beautyrest, ComforPedic etc.
Decent pay if you hit your bonuses.
Great distribution base for product lines.
Competitive advantages over competition with the solid history and products.

    Cons

All downsides of working in sales for Simmons come from the management of the Mountain Central District. So if you are working in other districts it could be a great job. If you are unlucky enough to be in the MCD then get ready to have no leadership, all accountability with no objective views to things within your realm of influence. You will get no credit, no respect and no help.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I recommend that if you want to stop losing good people and replacing them with people that have no experience. Then a hard look should be taken at the power and control that are given to the VP over the districts, where they are making decisions that are not in the best interest of the Simmons company or their retailers on any level.

Upper leadership is biased and it is only about who you know and not what a good job you do.

I have been working at Simmons Bedding

    Pros

Innovative company of quality mattresses. Atmosphere is casual and comfortable.

    Cons

Feels like a teachers pet environment. If you don't know the right people you will never advance in the company. Still part of the "good old boys" club and women do not make it into leadership roles. No loyalty for your time of service or dedication for the job. Must do a lot of butt kissing here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

HR should investigate matters further and not just go on a manager's word. Get rid of the guys that have been around too long and have tunnel vision. Hire new leadership with the ability to actually execute a vision or plan!
