I have been working at Simon Fraser University

    Pros

Okay benefits. Unionized postions relatively safe if you have worked a long time. Some areas have good management. University attracts very competent staff and faculty for the most part.

    Cons

Pension plan a little dicey. Communication from management could be better at times. Like all government funded institutions, they are liable to budget cutbacks leading to job loss and minimal pay increases.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

From secondhand accounts, some areas could use better managers. The university is at least being proactive about trying to improve the cleaning and food services on campus. Some areas definitely need space improvement because of overcrowding.
