I worked at Simon Property Group part-time

Pros

You get paid to stand around and assist customers with questions and concerns. Get paid to what equates to a little bit of actual work.

Cons

Very little work to actually do, you stand around for long periods of time doing nothing, you only get a 15 minutes break when you work udner 8 hours. So if you work a full sunday which only equates to 7 1/2 hours, you still get a 15 minutes break. Gets very boring.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize the people who actually do the work and not assume that a manager or someone above the representative did it. Also, informing your employees that you do actually appreciate them would get a better response.

I have been working at Simon Property Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Decent benefits and strong departments. The company is good at what it does while continually competing in a very strong market. Strong non-exempt employees.

    Cons

Profits before employees. Very heavy in upper and senior management who are out of touch with the rest of the employees. Communication between management and non-exempt employees is very poor. Completely bogged down in paperwork and the over-abundance of policies. If you work in the field (mall locations), you are treated as a secondary employee with sub-par computer programs. IT department needs a lot of improvement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen and pay attention to what is going on in your departments. Incorporate field employees in the company picnics, bowling events, Christmas party. Include non-exempt employees in the bonus structure.

Simon Property Group - Not a great company unless your title is CEO

I have been working at Simon Property Group part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great customer service and administrative experience for your resume.

    Cons

Employees are considerably underpaid. Poor communication between corporate and malls/employees. Management typically uses general deceptive tactics for finding loopholes in the workplace and for what they can "get away with" to better benefit themselves and the specific duties associated with them and/or their mall(s).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Show and tell your employees that their work is appreciated. Develop a better culture and values for the company. Employee compensation needs dramatic improvement. Perhaps if employees are feeling more appretiated for the work they do, as well as get payed more sufficiently, employees would want to in turn benefit the company's success tremendously; as opposed to secretly not caring and doing their job with less effort and less enthusiasm.
