Pros

They make an effort to keep the work environment light and fun. People are generally friendly and company activities happen frequently. Good for family-oriented people.

Cons

Limited professional growth potential in most areas of the company. The innovation period is over and they've entered a mature phase (much too early). Company upside is limited. Limited transparency with senior management. Middle management is mediocre. People are less driven and not many outlets for high achievement. Employees are more concerned about putting in their hours and getting home at a decent hour.

Helps you develop your skills and career goal. Helps us in time management. Provides good team members and a good work environment.

    Cons

Work hours are limited and sets a constrain on us. The pay was not what I was expecting. And the responsibilities where high.

    Pros

There are some really bright, very hard working people that work for this company - many of which have a genuine desire to do great work. Good place to cut your teeth, especially early in your careers - get the experience you need to build your resume and move on to your next gig. If I'm a recruiter, I'd be all over these people. Some are really good and no doubt just waiting to be off to their next career move.

    Cons

Culture felt very toxic. Department relationships were very silo'ed. Relationships may have been decent within each silo, however - silo to silo, there were a number of interactions I witnessed that were flat out nasty and unprofessional. Much of this revolved around finance. There were a good number of people, from different levels of the company, that felt a constant lack of respect directed toward them, particularly when dealing with key senior leaders. This is a morale killer and a driving force behind the reason that so many people left the company after less than a year or two there. It was either that or the company laid them off. If you interview there - ask the interviewer 1) how many people work there and 2) how many people were hired in the last year. Then, know that the people that were hired were not a function of growth, but rather to replace people that decided to leave. I don't know the actual number but it's got to be 50-60%+ turnover annually. Additionally - the product clearly needs a lot of work. Internally, everyone drinks the KoolAid and feels like it's awesome. Externally, you'll have to ask the customers - but rest assured, there are very few legitimate businesses that will use this company's tool as a core strategy - it just doesn't drive good enough results.

    Advice to Management

Great leaders inspire people and get the people around them to do their best work. The current leadership group is not credible or good enough at doing this. In fact, they tend to do the opposite in many cases. The senior team - to include the VC group funding this operation - needs to overhaul from the top-down. There is too much misguided effort in the wrong directions - all the while the competition is increasing, which means the window for SimplyHired's success will be closing quickly. Be decisive and swift. Wipe the slate clean, then start fresh...with people that understand the market, the customer, common courtesy, and professionalism a whole lot better.
