Pros

They make an effort to keep the work environment light and fun. People are generally friendly and company activities happen frequently. Good for family-oriented people.

Cons

Limited professional growth potential in most areas of the company. The innovation period is over and they've entered a mature phase (much too early). Company upside is limited. Limited transparency with senior management. Middle management is mediocre. People are less driven and not many outlets for high achievement. Employees are more concerned about putting in their hours and getting home at a decent hour.

I have been working at Simply Hired

    Pros

    - reasonable pay and benefits
    - generally pleasant work environment
    - 9 to 5 culture, good work-life balance

    Cons

    - Frequent layoffs in sales - sometimes you email someone you have been in the middle of a deal with and they suddenly don't work here anymore, with no notice or help on who to contact next
    - Lack of product differentiation - Simply Hired is basically a not-as-good-as-indeed indeed clone
    - No Engineering leader - currently reporting to product who is trying their best to keep the lights on
    - Uninspiring CEO, does not exhibit the qualities of a strong leader, uncomfortable to watch him present at company wide meetings
    - Mass exodus of top talent - a lot of the good people have left in the last year (2013-2014)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Replace the underperforming Sales Management team
    - Find a differentiator for our product
    - Overall morale very low, need to address this somehow

I have been working at Simply Hired

    Pros

    - Cool people
    - Cool product category

    Cons

    - CEO changes his mind every month
    - Poor execution, we never get anything done
    - "Me too" - we keep copying the competition
    - Lack Strategy - the CEO doesn't know how to run a company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring in experienced CEO that knows how to run a company. Indeed has absolutely killed Simply Hired - they're traffic is 10x ours. SImply Hired has literally never innovated. The company is excellent at mimicking other companies - but slowly. I won't be surprised if we roll out a Glassdoor look-a-like. The investors need to wake up and bring in a professional.
