I have been working at Sinai Health System

    Pros

Fighting the good fight, delivering health care to those in need who otherwise may receive medical attention.

    Cons

The inadequacies of the antiquated and quite often dilapidated physical structure coupled with the the equally inadequate technological and informational infrastructure make an already difficult job even harder.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promising brilliant future improvements that never seem to move any closer to reality is no salve to the common, frustrating and ever-so-real problems that face your employees day after day.

I worked at Sinai Health System

    Pros

Decent pay, cafeteria food is good and adequately priced.

    Cons

Management says they want to provide quality health services to the community, but that mission never quite comes across. Staff members are disrespectful and rude to patients and never corrected. Good public health based programs are allowed to fall by the wayside. Found that management had no idea what I did in my position. Many of the processes within the system were antiquated and slow to change. The benefits...although at first glance the benefits seem comprehensive, the health insurance was woefully inadequate. Both PPO options only allowed you to go to Sinai/Access or a few other hospitals for full coverage...the coinsurance and deductible were extremely high, and I actually went into a lot of debt due to medical bills working at the hospital. Go figure!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Figure out how to improve the quality and customer service aspects to bring in patients with varied lines of service needs and substantive payor mix.
