Former Employee - Supervisor in Santa Clarita, CA

I worked at Six Flags part-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Kind people, fast-paced, enjoyable, unique

Cons

bad compensation, cheezy rewards, non-sincere compliments, poor training philosophy

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Supervisors should be getting paid more that those they supervise; give good compliments to employees that deserve it, not just to everyone because they are an employee; know and practice and teach your supervisors the difference between favoritism and trust; cut down how long it takes to become a supervisor by having less steps; instead of waiting for discipline issues to arise, simulate a fake one so supervisors can finish their training; give rewards to employees that don't take all year to "earn."

Former Employee - Retail in Upper Marlboro, MD

I worked at Six Flags part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Plenty of hours (almost too many)
Chance to meet nice people from all over (because of the programs they have internationally)

    Cons

    Management lacked leadership skills
Favoritism was abundant so even more incompetent people were in positions of leadership
Sometimes the breaks would be too long (You were required to take an hour break when you had a four hour shift)
    Nasty/Rude managers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Evaluate who you put in charge and take a closer look at how they treat team members

Former Employee - Lead in Austell, GA

I worked at Six Flags full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Decent pay
Depending on what department you work in depends on the working conditions
    Great co-workers
Hosts many events for the employees such as cookouts, days where the park is only open to employees etc. They really show that they care about the employees who work there.

    Cons

Some of the higher level management are young people not exactly suited for or are mature enough to be in those positions. Lack of communication between upper level and general employees. Promotion up the ladder not necessarily based on ability or work ethic, more based on favorites.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more selective when deciding who to promote and where to place them. Age should not necessarily be a factor in a management position but the maturity to be able to handle it and handle it well should. Management should constantly be walking around checking on their sections, not hiding out in their offices.
