Current Employee - Ride Operator in Jackson, NJ
Current Employee - Ride Operator in Jackson, NJ

I have been working at Six Flags part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Fun with flexible hours. You learn some new skills ranging from how to operator the rides to socializing with the guests.

    Cons

The pay rate is pretty low considering you have to work outside in the heat/humidity every day with little to no shade. Some areas do have shade but some places have none and breaks are done so strangely. You can be working 30mins and have your 45minute break; which means working the next 4-5 hours without a break. Also there is a major understaffed issue, don't be surprised if you end up working 4-5 double shifts in a week just to cover-up this issue. Plus no overtime pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on scheduling a bit. Also train the ride ops on more than just one ride.
