I worked at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of exposure. The opportunity to work on some the best projects going on anywhere in the world while being surrounded by some of the best talent in the world.

    Cons

Lots of hours. Days, night and weekends will be devoted to working on some of the best projects going on anywhere in the world. Everyone has a specific role, with very specific task, resulting in very little cross-fertilization within the firm (designers do design work, technical architects do detailing, specifiers do specifications, etc).

I have been working at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good Salary. Great projects. Extremely knowledgable staff. Lots of resources.

    Cons

Too competitive. Too many politics. Poorly run. Employees are treated like garbage. Your future is in their hands.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees.
