Current Employee - Technology Graduate in London, England (UK)
Current Employee - Technology Graduate in London, England (UK)

I have been working at Sky full-time (more than an year)

Pros

I have had a great experience on the Technology Graduate Programme so far. There are few companies that could give you exposure to such a diverse range of technologies over a two year programme. As well as the standard web, mobile, and networking technologies there are opportunities to get involved in broadcast and ISP projects that you simply wouldn't get in a standard IT job. There is good access to senior management and a real commitment to innovation, doing the right thing, and the Bigger Picture Programme which is really nice to see from a FTSE 100 company. The graduate salary is very competitive and the benefits are great (Free Sky+HD, Broadband, Health Insurance to name a few)

Cons

It can sometimes be a little slow when you first begin a new rotation whilst you familiarise yourself with the project and build up enough responsibility to do important work.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep investing in graduate resource! We will deliver value with our innovative ideas, flexibility, and network power gained from rotating through departments.

Former Employee - Legal Advisor in London, England (UK)

I worked at Sky full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

They hire great people. There is an ethos of striving for better. There are also great perks!

    Cons

The location in London is zone 4. The company is now so large that some departments have had to be moved off-site which lessens the feeling of community.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep allowing people to thrive by moving around departments. This provides fresh opportunities within the same company

Former Employee - Technical Analyst in Livingston, Scotland (UK)

I worked at Sky full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Has the capacity to be a fun and dynamic place to work.

    Cons

There is often a blame culture leading to a climate of fear of making mistakes. Staff arent given praise for doing a job well, but hear when they don't. Pressure to get the job done is often quite intense leading to expectations that staff will do additional hours (often without pay) and frequent weekends.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Show appreciation for jobs well done. Learn from past mistakes and hire sufficient staff to do the job well in the time allowed.
