Pros

Great flight benefits. Granted, we go last on all United & Delta flights. But it's still better than no flight benefits. If you love to travel, this is the place to be. Non Union Environment. Some stations have agreements with other airlines. The sad part is, these other airlines usually treat us better than our mainline carriers.

Opportunities to move to various Skywest Stations is a plus.

Cons

Station Management rarely reads your email in a timely matter, and yet all employees are expected to read their email every day they are working. Inconsistency among supervisors and how they manage the shifts. Each supervisor has their favorites and if you are not one of them, don't expect to be treated nicely.

Love how the bid lines change after the bidding is completed. Funny how the 'favorites' manage to have their line adjusted to meet their needs, while others are forced to trade shifts to make their line work.

Skywest SAFA is a waste of time and money. Their job is too look out for the interests of the front line staff, and their typical response is "ask your Station Manager". Dahhh. If someone is going to SAFA in the first place, it should be obvious it's because their Station Manager wasn't helpful. SAFA salaries and travel budget would be better spent else where.

Unable to order uniforms for some time.

Acknowledgement of a job well done, is rarely done. The retirement plan recently changed and the flight benefits are not as great. Seems like they should grandfather employees that were hired on when the old plan was in place.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better communication of the changes to the flight benefits, retirement benefits, etc. District Managers/Directors should hold their station management team accountable. In fact, they should conduct meetings with the employees without the management present.

Apprentice title very misleading, if not a favorite of management you will not go anywhere.

    I worked at SkyWest

    Pros

Benefits, 4 day work week, work at the airport, little supervision

    Cons

Management does not care about apprentices, plays favorites, no training, no respect toward apprentice, poor supervisors. Mechanics are always right and apprentices have no say even when they know better than the mechanics.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give respect to the apprentices. They have good ideas and know more than you think. Listen to them and quit playing favorites with the mechanics.
