I have been working at Slalom Consulting

Pros

Interesting culture, friendly people, sometimes exciting work.

Cons

Poor / lack of management, less than average benifits & PTO, left out of company events and rewards, short staffing basic services means more work for everyone.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop acting like a little comapany jumping over dollars to pick up dimes at staffs expense. Pay bills on time, honor your word.

I have been working at Slalom Consulting

    Pros

    - Ability to be flexible in work/life balance.
    - Ability to take unpaid time off when needed.
    - Good team of committed people.

    Cons

    - Lack of challenging or senior level client assignments.
    - PTO/sick time model is very skimpy.
    - Benefits are average.
    - "Newbies" aren't respected for a long time - over-emphasis on tenure in decision making.
    - Lack of transparency for promotions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Work on improving quality and complexity of client opportunities.
    - Better showcase Slalom capabilities to clients beyond basic staff augmentation roles.
    - Perception that the founders/exec team have lost sight of why they founded the company in the first place.
    - Lack of financial rewards being shared throughout the organization, rewards are disproportionately distributed.

I have been working at Slalom Consulting

    Pros

Slalom really allows flexibility in work life balance. The hourly model allows you to realize more upside as you work more hours, or decide to maybe work less, if that fits better into your life. Great, fun, culture and really smart, interesting people.

    Cons

The roles tend to be more limited and "staff aug" than roles you'd get with big 4 firms. Hourly model also has downside potential, as you only make half your hourly if you're on the beach. Holidays and PTO are kind of skimpy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you're doing, particularly wrt career pathing, training, and beefing up benefits.
