I have been working at Smith & Wollensky

Pros

The menu is great and the people are proffessionals, I would not reccomend working here if you do not know what you are doing.

Cons

I work an average of 60 to 75 hours a week just to finish the paperwork that we are responsible for.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't do it unless you are ready to work a ton of hours. Getting a raise is like asking a stranger if you can borrow his car for a day.... Its just not happening

I worked at Smith & Wollensky part-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Great General Mgmt, flexible scheduling, enjoyable work environment for this industry, good bar regulars for the most part, and income is steady, set bartending schedules

    Cons

Support Staff lacks proper training and execution, communication from upper tier mgmt down throughout the entire structure, difficult to locate a manager at times due to the size of the building

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on training support staff to the caliber of the brand, and work on getting a better communication system

I have been working at Smith & Wollensky

    Pros

Great people to work with when they eventually do show up to work.

    Cons

Work life balance is not existent. I have been put off from a review since the day I started....apparently the company does not believe in giving increases.
