Pros

People, those I worked with and those I met. Needed tools to do the job were always provided. Often the best available.

Cons

Feedback was sometimes skimpy or hard to understand. Beginning pay was for some not enough to live on. Vestiges of elitism lingers in a few places.

Advice to Management

This is a hard one. Most of my managers were at least fair. Opportunity to grow seemed unavailable to me. Maybe it would be better if they looked within the organization for those that would do "that" job rather than recruiting from outside. But maybe I'm being unfair.

    Pros

Proud to work for the Smithsonian, could see direct results of work, involved in special events and exhibition openings, lots of employee/intern perks, nice and friendly coworkers although ultimately uninterested in personal life

    Cons

VERY quiet office, not a lot of office culture, sometimes upper management seems totally out of it

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to what's going on in the office, needs more interoffice meetings
