I have been working at Sobeys part-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

-Decent wages
-Very flexible scheduling
-If you deserve it, you "move up" quick
-Easy to get time off, usually always approved
-Staff are great, really grow a bond! This is what keeps most here!

Cons

-Poor scheduling
-Ridiculous front end shifts
-The whole hour cut thing every year is crazy
-Cheap cheap cheap, company is un-explainable with their income and why they use the money on certain things, and not the things that matter

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your team, there wouldn't be a you if it wasn't for them!

    Pros

    You meet a lot of interesting people, both customers and employees

    Cons

    People at head office are idiots and they change things up not only to prove that their job is important (which it isn't) but to put store employees through hell. Plus, their changes don't make sense and half the time they go back to the original idea.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop listening to the stupid ideas for head office workers that have never stepped foot in a store and do what works for the store and customers in the area.

    Pros

    flexible scheduling, ability to get days off usually granted, usually friendly customers and employees, that's about it

    Cons

    awful management, terrible wages, no room for advancement, benefits package is mediocre for the price paid, do not recommend

    Your employees are more important than the customers.
