SSA, ODAR, OAO provides a good work environment, but it doesn't really appreciate or respect its attorneys.

Attorney-Advisor (Current Employee)

I have been working at Social Security Administration full-time for more than a year

ProsVery flexible with leave and credit hours. Flextime adds a great deal of convenience. Flexiplace, when you finally get it, is very nice.

ConsMax of 2 days off per year for CLEs. Will not pay for or reimburse attorneys for CLEs. Starts attorneys at a lower pay grade than most other agencies. Career ladder ends lower than most agencies. Competitive promotion opportunities are few within OAO itself.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

Pros: Enjoyed helping beneficiaries and the salary. Cons: Totally inept management that mistreats employees. Managers are mostly people who couldn't perform… Advice to Senior Management: Retire and put some qualified people in management No, I would not recommend this company to a friend More
