No oversight. No incentive to do a good job. No culture although they try to foster it. Great work/life balance.

Employees are the assets; Senior Managers need to learn accountability starts at the top

    Pros

The employees are the assets in this company. Employees are well-educated (the majority seem to have masters degree or higher) and are genuinely focused on public health research. You can't find a better bunch anywhere. The employees make the company what it is - for the most part.

    Cons

On the other hand, prospective employees should be aware that there are a lot of problems at the top and significant politics that often prevent you from really making progress. Additionally, you will find that senior management of this company is undereducated compared to the rest of the employees in the company.

Prospective employees should also be aware that this company is employee owned, but not employee run. You will find the decisions made by senior management to be sometimes irrational and self-serving, and sometimes guided by cronyism, fear, narcissism, and even nepotism. Training options are few and far between. You should plan on having to use your own resources to grow and prosper. Senior Management could change by learning how to hold each other accountable.
