Software AG has completed a very successful acquisition of webMethods. Coming from webMethods, some people were sceptical and expected Software AG to swallow up webMethods. But it has truly merged webMethods into the company, making significant organisational changes along the way. Software AG has managed to retain a lot of what made webMethods special and to transfer a lot of that pride in the company to the new merged organisation.
And such a large company brings with it more stability and excellent opportunities for career development.

Cons

The company now has a size where it is impossible to know everyone and everything. This is not due to any failure in the merger with webMethods, but a simple side-effect of working in a 4000-employee global organisation.

Advice to Senior Management

Management needs to foster innovation and show willingness to stick its neck out and take some risks, striving to be one step ahead of the competition rather than snapping at their heels.
