Software AG North America – “Old software company trying to become new.”

Pros

Stable. solid company. Interesting work. Some very competent people there. Reston office is in a good location, easily accessible by highways with plenty of shops and restaurant nearby. My company was acquired by Software AG a little over a year ago, so am still getting familiar with the pros and cons.

Cons

Company, at least the area where I work, feels somewhat stagnant. No new products, no organizational changes creating opportunities to work on new things.

Advice to Senior Management

Loosen up. You are a German company, but you've got a large operation in the US. The major portion of your comapny is based on very old products. If you want to attract and retain the talent needed for new technology, you'll need to be less hierarchical, more communicative and more open to alternative working arrangements.
